Reception
Our grade R unit is a loving, nurturing environment where children can develop solid values and morals.
We focus on the development of the whole child - emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively.
We explore the Letterland programme and our formal lessons are outcomes based.
The grade R unit boasts a private outdoor area where the children can extend their knowledge and skills. Activities include gardening, construction, water play, building in the sandpit and strengthening their muscles on the monkey bars!
Computers in the classrooms form part of our daily programme. A specialist offers all our learners Speech and Drama lessons once a week. A water confidence /swimming lesson is incorporated into the weekly programme. This is replaced by a physical education lesson in the winter months.
The grade R year is a happy and productive introductory year at Berea Primary
